There is a plethora of beautiful intricacies to the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. My practice revolves around the illustration of memories and relational experiences, whether it is through hazier, atmospheric works or lens-based ones of those close to me. I draw on the intimacies of friendship and queerness, femme existence, and honest frustrations with heterosexist dating.
I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska; a small town roughly 120 miles south of the Arctic Circle. Spending my childhood in a remote and socially isolating area was combated through a steady stream of fantasy novels supplemented with a hyperactive imagination. Now, based in Vancouver, BC, I still find myself grounding my practice in the influence of world-building, using painting as a gateway into my various contemplations on how we relate to one another. Through a supersaturated palette and slow layering, I flesh out a world of characters and memories that I perpetually return to.
